Good Luck!
I am also rising up
One For All is an important opportunity for citizens of Japan to show their support for the nation's historic support of those living in the poorest parts of the globe. And on the eve of the G8, it's also a chance to urge even greater commitment by Japan and other rich nations in the years ahead - to build on the success in improving people's lives and help meet the Millennium Development Goals by 2015.
At the start of the century, the countries of the world made a magnificent promise, setting the Millennium Development Goals, to help people living in poverty and with very hard lives. Meeting these goals would mean fewer hungry people, fewer infant and mother deaths, more children in schools, greater protection for the environment and millions of lives saved and changed every year.
This year, Japan has a unique opportunity to make sure the G8 leaders keep their promises to the world's poor as they host the G8 summit. Japan can use its powerful international influence to change the world for the better once and for all.
The thousands of people coming together for the One For All event are expressing their support for the Japanese government taking action to improve the lives of people living in poverty. Lives are in the balance and Japan can make the crucial difference.
The G8 leaders listen when we get together to fight global poverty and diseases like malaria.
That's why I'm joining thousands of people at One For All in Yokohama.
